We went to Rome on our Honeymoon. Travelling independently we stayed at the Hotel Trevi about 1 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain. Excellent service, clean, TV etc, air conditioning, shower and WC. We found we could walk everywhere in Rome, no bus, Metro or Taxi used. We booked it all online, plane and hotel and airport transfer at www.britishairways.com
To be in love in Rome is wonderful. A very slow pace combined with a sense of history makes for an unforgettable Honeymoon. Just walking about, holding hands and being in love in Rome................
Rome was not expensive at all, unlike Venice which was!!! Eating out was easy and very reasonable, lots of good coffee too. Lots of cheap places to eat within 100 m of the Hotel Trevi. We stayed in the Annexe (and pic here) and had breakfast on the roof.
There was a mega
queue to get into the Collesseum, so we were solicited by a young girl to join a
"tour group" for EURO 8, which we did, plus admission to the
Collesseum, and we just walked in instantly. Brilliant and had a guided tour. It
gets really hot in there so take some water. All the main sites are within
walking distance of each other e.g. Trevi to Collesseum, about 15 mins. The
longest walk is down to the River, about 30 mins at most! We went to the Vatican
in 2002. that is further!
